This year’s Jólasveinar contest
proved once again to be a
highly successful event with
many enteries in the three age cate-
gories. The panel of judges consisting
of Evelyn Thorvaldson, Sandra
Duma, Kathryn Freeth and Barbara
Gislason faced a tough decision on
choosing the best drawing of the
Icelandic yule lads.

sen as the best in the 11 & 12 year
age category.
Julia attends St. Christopher
School in Mississauga, Ontario. Her
amma is Herdis (Eyolfson) Maddin
of Winnipeg. Julia enjoys ballet danc-
ing and drawing, as is evident by her
beautiful drawing of Þvörusleikir on
this page.
Elisa Bruenig’s drawing of

prize in the 9 & 10 year age category.
