Raising $1.5 million:
A three-year campaign
Lopi Sweaterei
The Lögberg-Heimskring-
la Future Fund Capital Cam-
paign is a three-year campaign.
The first phase, which began
in January, 2004, was one of
planning, as well -as building
relationships with other Ice-
landic cultural organizations
and preparing campaign mate-
rial.
The second phase began
early this year, with emphasis
placed on seeking leadership
gifts and other major dona-
tions.
The third phase, or public
phase, begins today, 'June 17,
and will continue throughout
th'is year and the next. The
support by the members of
the individual chapters of the
Icelandic National League of
North America is looked upon
as the major strength of the
third phase. “Also, our rela-
tionships with other Icelandic
community organizations such
as the Icelandic Festival Com-
mittee will be important to the
success of the campaign,” says
Dr. Ken Thorlakson, Chair of
the Gapital Campaign Cabi-
net.

Holds the
community
together
Lögberg-Heimskringla is
the glue which holds the Ice-
landic-North American com-
munity together and reminds
us constantly of our shared
heritage. It is great to read
the issues aboul a particú-
lar community and find out
about Icelanders I’ve never
heard of before.
