of the IODE will hold its Fall Bridge and Whist
Luncheon at Betelstadur, 1061 Sargent Ave-

Minneapolis, MN: The lcelandic American
Association of Minnesota is sponsoring an
all Scandinavian Leif Eriksson Day get-to-
gether Sunday, October 2,2005 from 1 p.m.
to 5 p.m. at the Zuhrah Shrine Center, 2650
Park Ave. The highlight of the day is a cod
dinner at 1 p.m. The chef states that when
the lcelandic cod is delivered (flown in on
lcelandair) it is so fresh you can smell the
ocean on it. Socializing and speeches fol-
low dinner. The cost of the dinner is $19.00
with aquavit toasts available for $1.00. Res-

Research Conference, “Caring: The Journey
of Nursing Science” takes place at The Inn

Sigridur Halldorsdóttir, who became the first
Professor of Nursing in lceland in 1998, has
recently begun studying psychoneuroim-
munology and its connection with love and

terfront location with keynote speaker Linda
Lundstrom and musical entertainment from

Festivals
October 11-15
Minot, ND: The Norsk Hostfest, the largest
Scandinavian American festival in North
American, at State Fair Center in Minot.
Headline performers this year include Nor-
way’s hottest singing sensation, Sissel, and
American country legends Glenn and Debby
Campbell, RandyTravis, Charley Pride, Mer-
le Haggard and Paul Anka. More than 100
intemational, national, regional and local en-
tertainers perform from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
on any of six stages. Special events include
the celebration of Norway’s Centennial and
the 200th birthday of Denmark’s Hans Chris-

vian Festival Oglethorpe University, 4484
Peachtree Rd. N.E. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Festival features live music and enter-
tainment from the five Nordic countries—
Denmark, Finland, lceland, Norway and
Sweden. Other festivities include an Viking
encampment; wandering trolls; Scandina-
vian food; a Scandinavian design fashion
show; storytelling; children’s games; arts
and crafts; genealogy; raffle; a soccer game;
a vendors’ market offering hard-to-find Scan-
dinavian products; live reindeer for children
to pet; and the first Atlanta appearance of the
world’s most famous Finn, Santa Claus.

lcelandic-Canadian Chamber of Commerce
(ICCC). Issues on the agenda indude a
briefing on the current status of EFTA-Ca-
nadian Free Trade talks and an overview of
fishing and transport developments crucial
to the trading relationship. Members of the
ICCC are encouraged to participate and

seum presents “Medieval Quilts,” An exhibit
of original art quilts inspired by Medieval il-
luminated manuscripts. Quilt artist: Heather
Lair. The exhibit will include a “hands on”
loom where visitors can try this ancient and
practical art. Fallandwinterhours: Monday
to Friday - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays and

Gimli, MB: The New lceland Heritage Mu-
seum presents its pre-Christmas sale at'the
