Guð, ég bið að blessuð vernd þín
börnum mínum fylgi æ;
gef þeim náð að standa stöðug
stormi í og þíðum blæ;
gef þau láti’ að leiðsögn þinni
lífs að hinztu dagsins stund,
og að þeirra ævisporin
aðra leiði’ á Guðs síns fund.
MY CHILDREN
For the children, God, Thou gav’st me,
For their love and help and care,
Heartily I thank and praise Thee,
As with Tþee their love I share;
For the light of faith that brightly
Burns within their hearts alway;
For Thy Holy Spirit’s presence
Hallowing all their earthy day.
God, I pray that Thy protection
Be may children’s stay always;
By Thy grace may they stand steadfast
Both in dark and sunny days;
To Thy guidance ever yielded
Till their earthly path they’ve trod;
By their footprints gently leading
Other souls to faith in God.
