Grindavik - "C" League Champions
Base title •
up for grabs

Patrol Squadron 56, Air Oper-
ations, and Grindavik reign as
champions of the "A", "B" and "C"
leagues, respectively, in intra-
mural basketball season Just con-
cluded. These three teams and 12
others now have their eyes set on
the base championship, with the
title game scheduled Surtday at
2 p.m.
The Dragons of VP-56 captured
the second half championship and
the "A" league title by posting
an 11-3 record to edge NSGA by a
game. Members of the Dragons are
John Sherwood, Bill Brunka, Bill
Greaver, Joe Schwanebeck, Bill
Richbourg, Glen Gueder, A1 Thack-
er, Doug Werber, Bob William^,
Mike Gram and Paul LeBlanc.
The "B" league title went
AirOps who posted a perfect 11—1
mark for the second half. Supply
and the High School tied for sec-
ond, but a 60-42 play-off win
gave the second spot to the sup-
ply men.
The AirOps team is composed of
Larry Selvey, Marc Maxwell, Paul
Shields, Mike Prusasky, Charles
Sanders, Jim Crawford, Allen Cor-
son, Gary Witcher, Bill Smith,
Don Clark and Bill Bright.
The "C" league championship
was much more complicated, how-
ever. Grindavik, which won the
first half championship, was tied
by Special Services for the sec-
ond half crown at 9-3. Special
Services took a 43-37 verdict to
claim the second half victory.
Grindavik turned the tables for
the overall championship by scor-
ing a 49-43 victory.
Members of the "C" league win-
ner were John Toles, A1 Daugher-
ty, Eric Gustafson, Mike Crowley,
Earl Kinnett, Jon Kappeler, Ken
Smith, Joe Huncherick, Denis Ven-
tura, Gary Hughes, James Yoder,
Ken Doescher, Pete Ward, Chui
Ropel, Ruben Irizarry and
Kiesel.
