Fire wardens program instituted
to aid in fire prevention efforts
Fire prevention is everybody's business.
With that thought in mind, commands, departments and divisions on
the NATO base have joined the station fire department and started a
fire warden program. The program was begun to provide constant sur-
veillance for fire hazards, and
to fulfill the need to maintain
constant fire prevention atti-
tudes. Each designated fire war-
den attended a lecture by the
fire department last Thursday at
which their new duties were out-
lined.
Part of the duties of the fire
warden is a check sheet which must
be completed each day. According
to Assistant Fire Chief Stefans-
son, "If only one fire is preven-
ted as a result of the program,
then it will have been success-
ful." Chief Stefansson also
points out that the presence of
fire wardens in each building
does not lessen the responsibil-
ity of all others to be aware of
hazardous situations.
AFRTS survey special
AFRTS will present a special
