Navy surveying
enlisted dining
facilities ashore
The Navy is currently conduct-
ing an on-the-spot survey of en-
listed dining facilities ashore
in order to set up a master plan
for their improvement.
The survey is nearly half done
now, and should be completed by
October, 1972.
Improvements will be made be-
fore the end of the survey. The
Navy plans to spend almost 24
million dollars on better food
service in the next few years.
Individual activities and
commands are being given a report
on their facilities. Proposals
for improvements are also being
offered.
Each command can begin work
without waiting for the results
of the entire survey.
Capt. Albert Davis, commanding
officer of the Navy Subsistence
Office, said that after the sur-
vey is finished, "We'll know what
still has to be done, how much it
will cost, and what our prior-
ities should be."
Some toys
may be hazardous
to your children
The Ideal Toy Corp. has volun-
tarily recalled various "Toddler
Thumbelina" toys based on reports
that wire supports in legs of
dolls may protrude through vinyl
vering causing a potential haz-
ard to children.
Models being recalled are
0416, 0426, 0428, 0430, 0431,
0432, 0434, 0436, 0438, 0439,
0441, 0455 and 0466. None of
these models were received at
this Navy Exchange activity.
The Ideal Toy Corp. also re-
ported that their XPL Exploratory
Probe Launcher was potentially
hazardous and had suspended its
sale. The Navy Exchange has none
of these items on sale now. How-
ever, they were on sale several
months ago. Anyone requesting a
refund on the XPL Exploratory
Probe Launcher should contact the
Retail Store Manager.
