manuscripts belonging to a different branch. The relationship is more
complicated, however, as far as F is concerned, for as well as identifying
significant features that it has in common with 39 Olafur Halldorsson
considers that F betrays influence from ajy-manuscript.44

The signs of influence from ajp-manuscript do not, however, affect
the location of F next to 39 in the stemma. Olafur Halldorsson thinks
that there may be contamination (“flashover”) fromjy because the scribe
of F, who was an experienced copyist, had previously written ajy-
manuscript, which is how features of y were transferred to F. He
