October 26 — Overture to “Oberon” (Weber),
Concerto in D-minor opus 47 for violin (Sibelius),

November 9 — Overture to “Rosamunde” (Schu-
bert), Concerto in A-minor opus 129 for cello

November 23 — Overture to “Tancredi” (Ross-

December 7 — Concerto in D-major opus 77 for
violin (Brahms), Symphony #6 opus 74 (Tchai-

December 28 — “Fingal’s Cave” overture (Men-
delssohn), Concerto in B-major K. 595 for piano
(Mozart), Concerto #3 in C-minor opus 37 for
piano (Beethoven). Conductor: Robert A. Ottos-
son, Soloist: Vladimir Ashkenasi.
Also 18 Sunday “Pop” Concerts during 1967
—68 to be advertised in the daily papers and 4
childrens’ concerts. Tickets and further informa-
tion at the State Radio.
CULTURAL SOCIETIES
ALLIANCE FRANQAISE — will hold a series
of lectures on France and the French culture and
several social meetings this winter. Dates and
places will be announced in the daily papers . . .
A large library at Hallveigarstig 9 with two read-
ing rooms is open to the public on Thursdays,
8—10 p.m. .. . The annual French language
course extends from October to December and
January to April. Information from Snaebjorn
Jonsson & Co. bookstore October 1st and January
1st. Society chairman: Magnus G. Jonsson.
ISLENZK-SKOZKA FELAGID — will hold a
Hallowe’en Ball in late October, the public Burn’s
Supper in late January, its annual general meet-
ing in March, 1968, and a final dance in April.
Society chairman: Dr. Einar Eliasson.
ANGLIA — will hold four social evenings during
the season, the first scheduled for October.
ISLENZK-AMERlSKA FELAGID — will hold
its annual dinner dance at the Hotel Saga on
October 6th. Speaker for the evening will be Dr.
Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian Insti-
tution, Washington, D.C.

MYNDLISTA- OG HAND1DASKOLI ISLANDS
Daytime courses for children in drawing, paint-
ing and handicrafts from October 1, 1967 —
January 20, 1968, and January 21, 1968 to April
30, 1968.
Evening courses for young people and adults in
drawing and painting, bookbinding, weaving,
perspective drawing, and technical drawing. Also
Saturday classes for adults in lettering. The last
three courses are year-long. The first three are
semester courses as are the children’s courses.
