GEM OF ICELAND Smoked North-Atlantic Salmon GEM OF ICELAND In a category all its own through a unique combination of two very basic merits: • It comes from Iceland, an island settled by Vikings more than a thousand years ago but still pristine and unspoiled by industrial pollution. • It is produced in the traditional manner of times past while at the same time observing and honoring all HACCP stipulations. True, all natural quality you discern the very moment you taste it. In Iceland the rain is pure and so are the rivers, the soil, the surrounding ocean as well as the air. Anywhere on the island you can sit down on the banks of a spring-fed river and enjoy the exquisite, wonderfully refreshing water, right from the stream. This is the water our salmon lives and grows in until it is ready for the clear, cool waters off the Icelandic shores where it matures for your enjoyment as a rare delicacy. In our case this takes place in the cold sea off the north coast. This means a relatively slow growth of the fish which results in firmer flesh texture and a more prominent salmon flavor. No modern tricks are used to increase the packaged weight of the product nor are any corners cut regarding quality. Only freshly killed salmon is used, never frozen, and no gimmicks or curing aids are used to alter its taste, appearance or substance. D Atl. 500 Augl. bls. 8 21.8.2000 16:36 Page 8
