Check out the bulletin board for what’s on and where, relax in the coffee shop on the first floor and lounge in the comfortable sofas. The library includes a variety of English and Scandinavian fiction and a good selection of factual books on Iceland in several languages. Internet access is available, as well as a children’s play area and a CD music collection. A sec- ond branch of the City Library opened at the City Theatre, next to the Kringlan shopping mall, this spring. The City Library has also just launched an exten- sive literature web site, available in English, at www.literature.is This summer sees the opening of an interesting exhibition of art work by stu- dents from the Reykjavík School of Art (six to16 years of age), inspired by the writings of Nobel Laureate Halldór Kiljan Laxness. It features two- and three- dimensional pieces by individuals and groups, and is on show at the Reykjavík City Theatre foyer from 11 May. And for more Laxness, the younger generation will profit from a special Laxness programme at the City Theatre on 11 May.
