Icelandair took delivery of a new Boeing 757-300 air-
craft on March 19th. A welcoming ceremony was held
at Icelandair’s hangar at Keflavík International Airport.
Captain Hilmar Baldursson flew the aircraft straight
from the Boeing factory in Seattle to Keflavík, where it
was named Snorri Thorfinnsson. Around 600 people
celebrated this milestone with Icelandair, which is now
the first carrier in the world to operate all models of
the 757 simultaneously. Icelandair is also the first airline
to operate a dual-class 757-300 in the European mar-
ket.To mark the occasion that this was the tenth pas-
senger aircraft in Icelandair’s fleet, all ten-year-old chil-
dren from the local communities were invited to the
ceremony. They each received an Icelandair cap along
with a Boeing goody bag as souvenirs of this special day.

Icelandair Business Class got rave reviews in April’s issue of Business Traveller maga-
zine. The writer of the article, Mubarak Dahir, rates the service of Icelandair
Business Class highly, from check-in time to arrival. He compliments Icelandair’s
staff constantly and especially praised the check-in staff and cabin crew. Dahir stat-
ed that the check-in procedure seemed to last only seconds, and that he had been
so comfortable in the Business Lounge that he almost didn’t keep track of time. He
emphasised that the on-board service stood out for its individual attention.“It
seemed as if every time I wanted anything, the flight attendant appeared at my seat
before I could call her.“ The impression that an employee gives to a passenger is an
important factor in Icelandair’s service objectives. Icelandair takes pride in their
employees and focuses on excellent training and continuous training to make this
possible. From the positive response of our clients, it is clear that the staff of
Icelandair are meeting the highest of standards.
