Dear Passenger,
This summer, Icelandair will serve more destinations with greater frequency than
ever before in its history.
In stark contrast with the international aviation industry, the Icelandair Group has
seen unprecedented success in the last two years, with the 2003 result being the
second best in the company's 67-year history and 2002 the best.
We attribute the company's results to the restructuring of operations in recent years,
especially during and after 2001, following a decade of constant growth. We have
been able to increase the flexibility and overall efficiency of the organization while
sticking to our main strategy of offering the customer a wide variety of flight- and
travel related services.
Our focus has always been on serving three markets: our home market, the tourism
market to Iceland and the North-Atlantic one-stop market. Three quarters of the
Group's income derives from the international market and 25% from the small
Icelandic home market of 300,000 people. Icelandair's international network utilizes
Iceland as a hub between five US gateways: Boston, New York, Minneapolis,
Baltimore/Washington and Orlando, and 16 European destinations: Amsterdam,
Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Hamburg, Helsinki, London,
Madrid, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm and Zurich. Icelandair will increase
capacity by 20% during the summer of 2004.
In addition to the international passenger airline Icelandair, the Icelandair Group
consists of airline- and travel service companies that form the foundation of the fast-
growing Icelandic tourist industry. The Group incorporates Icelandair, Icelandair
Cargo, Icelandair Hotels, Air Iceland, Iceland Travel, Reykjavík Excursions,
Icelandair/Hertz, Icelandair Ground Services, Icelandair Technical Services,
Loftleidir-Icelandic and Icelandair Shared Services.
I wish you a pleasant flight.
