Airports are bestowed with different characters. If Kastrup,
Copenhagen’s international airport, were a person, it would of
course be a Dane. Easygoing, friendly, stylish and innovative.
CPH – Copenhagen Airport – is the airport served most frequent-
ly by Icelandair, with 50 flights to and from the city per week.
Copenhagen is one of the main stopover destinations used by
Icelandair passengers and the airport shopping and leisure facili-
ties are definitely a great choice to be explored.
RECHARGE YOUR BATTERIES
If you’ve got time to kill whilst waiting for your next plane, make
the most of your airport stay by profiting from one of its fabulous
relaxation facilities. First, why not refresh with a shower or a
sauna downstairs at the Transfer Hotel on the airport’s lower
level? Fresh to go, why not step into the Personal Care Lounge for
a head massage or, for the fairer sex, a French manicure and day
or evening make-up? Jet-lagged bodies will benefit from the
trendy Oxygen Bar. This high-tech bar with space age white plas-
tic chairs offers highly oxygenated air to inhale with four different
aromatherapy effects. Aromania gives you energy, Linea is sooth-
ing, distense is for tension and movi to revitalise tired limbs.
Now that your brain is back in working order, time for a healthy
snack. What could be better than a freshly squeezed fruit smooth-
ie? The Juice Bar offers gorgeous concoctions such as Airplane
Nerves, a mixture of raspberries, banana and apple that report-
edly contains 12 different vitamins and minerals, or Goodbye
Jetlag a tropical mix of passion fruit, apple and grapefruit – full of
iron to ward off sleep.
RETAIL THERAPY
The first thing you notice at CPH, apart from the various trendy
bars dotted throughout, is the incredible variety of shops. With all
the fabulous choices available, you hardly need go into the city
itself. Danish design is world famous, and why not bring back an
example from Illum’s Bolighus, a branch of this famous Danish
department store? Great objects to look out for are the Bodum
coffee sets, sixties-style ID lampshades and elegant tableware
from Rosenthal. Silversmiths Georg Jenssen also have an airport
branch, where you’ll find exquisite products in both classic and
modern designs. Fashionistas will have a field day at
Copenhagen airport. For the ultimate in luxury, visit the branch of
the prestigious Birger Michelsen department store, which has
