Food After Midnight:
Nonnabiti
This is the classic after-hours eating place in
Reykjavík, and the drinking crowd of the down-
town either love this place or wish they did. Here
you’ll find sandwiches in long bread (depending
on where you come from, you might call them
subs, heroes, or hogies). They’re quick, easy, and
fairly priced, and many Icelanders swear by them
to ward off tomorrow’s hangover. You’ll find them
at their new location on Hafnarstræti, which is
near the harbour.

Devito’s Pizza
Pizza by the slice isn’t the easiest thing to track
down late at night in Reykjavík, but Devito’s Pizza
is easy as, well… pie. Their slice is reasonable at
ISK 300 and you get a deal if you buy a can of soda
with it. You can find them at their new and bigger
location approximately 15 meters from their old
location next to the Hlemmur bus station. They’re
especially popular with the artists at Klink & Bank
who have made the parlour their kitchen away
from home while working into the night.

Mama’s Tacos
It might make your stomach rumble, but hey, it’s
cheap, and still open when your staggering home
from a night of drinking. Order mama’s own soft
tacos, and have them go easy on the sauce, oth-
erwise you’ll wake up seven hours later, hun-
gover, with greasy taco stains on your new Puma
sneakers.

Book Stores:
Ida
The most recent addition to the city's book mar-
kets is occupying one of the most beautiful build-
ings in downtown Reykjavik. Ida opened this sum-
mer on the ground floor of what used to be a fash-
ionable clothes store on Lækjargata. It shares the
space with a coffee shop, a sushi bar, a deli-
catessen, and an art gallery, so prepare to spend
some time looking around.

Bleika Dúfan
A smoke free and meat free bookstore, coffee
shop and restaurant. All the books are in English,
and while the Dúfan, (or dove), went through a
new age stint, the selection is always changing.
You can WiFi, get excellent coffee, and dine on the
best and cheapest vegetarian lasagne in town.

Eymundsson
The city’s most sophisticated bookstore is located
on the city’s most central street. Its more than three
floors of book heaven offer a great selection in
English ranging from bestsellers to more obscure
tomes, as well as beautiful art and photography
books. Lots of books and souvenirs on Iceland, and
a fun kid’s section downstairs.
