Jóhann Jóhannson.

SHEEP ROUND-UPS
Icelandic sheep are left to run wild in the summer to graze on moun-
tain herbs. In September, the farmers ride up to the mountains to
gather them and drive them down to the “rétt” or the special sheep-
pens. You can even ride with the farmers and experience Icelandic
horses at their best. Contact horse rental group Íshestar on

GUIDED TOUR
A museum dedicated to the work of Halldór Laxness will formally open 4
September. Guided tours will be given for 20 person groups every half hour and
visitors will be assisted by either a tour guide or an audio guide. The audio guide
will be made up of Audur Laxness’ reminiscences of the house blended with
actors’ voices and recordings of Halldór Laxness himself. There will also be a
user-friendly multimedia display on touch screens in the museum providing visi-
tors with a retrospective of the author’s career.
