JOHN BARNIY
BETEL HOME FOUNDATION
On October 12, at Morden
District General Hospital,
John Barney Johnson, aged
87 years of Morden.
He leaves to mourn his
passing, his loving wife,
Jona, one daughter Olive
Kunzelman, one son-in-law
Philip, five grandchildren,
five great grandchildren,
one brother and three
sisters. He was predeceased
by one son Benny in 1951,
one daughter Marcelia in
1967, three sisters and two
brothers.
John Barney was born in
1892 in Winnipeg. In 1919 he
married Jona Kristjanson
and settled in 1-6. In 1962
they retired to 344 Nelson
Street, Morden.
Mr. Johnson took part in
all community activities. He
served as a Stanley
municipal councillor for
twenty-two years, was
chairman and trustee of
Lindal School for thirty-
three years, and was a
Royal Canadian Legion
member for over fifty years.
He was actively involved
with the Morden Game and
Fish Association and the
Senior Citizens Friendship
Centre.

On Monday, October 29,
1979 at the Johnson Memorial
Hospital, Gimli, Mr Gunnlau-
gur Benedikt Benson, aged 56
years of Hecla Island, Mani-
toba, dearly beloved husband
| of Jonina Benson.
Louis, who had lived all his
life at Hecla, was a fisherman
and farmer. He also was em-
ployed with the Manitoba
Govemment, formerly on the
Hecia Ferry and latterly with
the Parks Branch. He was
predeceased by his brother
Maurice; sister Ingibjorg
Kiesman; and his father Mr.
Benedikt Benson and leaves
to moum his passing, besides
his wife; his son Roger and
daughter-in-law Doris of Ar-
borg; and grandchildren
Leanne and Boyd; his daugh-
ter Laureen Palsson and son-
in-law Greg; grandchildren
Sean and Erin also of Arborg;
his mother, Mrs. Gudrun Ben-
son of the Betel Home in
Seikirk; a sister Ruby Gri-
molfson of Prince Rupert,
B.C.; and brother Wilfred of
Selkirk. '
In lieu of flowers, friends so
wishing may contribute in his
memory to the Cancer Re
search Fund, 960 Portage Av
enue, or the Memorial Fund
of the Riverton-Hnausa Lu-
theran Church, Riverton.
