Surtsey is unique in that it has been protected from any human impact on its natural evolution right from its genesis. The exhibition SURTSEY - GENESIS at the Culture House, produced by the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, traces the emergence and evolution of the island Surtsey up to the present day and predicts its geographical and ecological development over the next 120 years.
