PTO Carnival •
huge success
"The 1980 Parent-Teachers'
Organization Carnival was an out-
standing success in every way," said
Lieutenant Commander Mel Sundin, co-
chairman for the gala event.
He expressed his special thanks
to "all who took part". This year's
gross profit was a record high of
$17,500. He went on to say, "thus
the various organizations and
individuals making up the day-long
event of food, fun and games proved
that we can all work together when
it comes to providing support for
the NATO Base school children".
A lot of people put in long hours
of work in preparation for the PTO
Carnival. LCDR Sundin expressed
his thanks to all and said that
several people deserve special
recognition. "Instrumental to the
physical arrangements at the
carnival were EMC J.C. Bien, UTC
L.P. Teasley and their gang of
carpenters and electricians from
the Naval Station Public Works
Department," he said.
He also mentioned that several
men from the Marine Barracks and a
team from the Naval Communications
Station assisted. He said that
Lieutenant Maynard Robinson did a
"great job as accountant and the
many ticket takers who spent so
long in the cold booths also
deserve a lot of credit along with
all the other folks who ran booths,
prepared food, and generally made
this the successful carnival that it
was".
The 1980 PTO Carnival was an out-
standing success in every way. It
is hoped that all concerned parents
will make the effort to get involved
with the PTO and concern themselves
with their children's education.
The PTO Carnival is only one way to
help.
"Finally," he said, "special
recognition is noted for Lieutenant
Colonel Jon Williams, USAF, who
acted as co-chairman, planner,
organizer for the entire affair
one point he even turned out to
fairly good carpenter."
