Archaeologia Islandica - 01.01.2015, Side 85
An Interview With Gordon Childe: Iceland, 1956
greeted us with a beautiful opera near the
Westman islands.” Only one foreigner has
voiced such an opinion to me, the Arme-
nian composer, Katchatourian.
I hurried to ask Childe what his main
hobby was and it turned out he goes driv-
ing a lot, takes walking trips and plays
bridge, but we have arrived at Hotel Garður
before I get a chance to ask more precisely
about car crashes, going off the road15 and
bridge victories. I bid farewell to one of the
most illustrious scientists who has visited
this country.
