Apótek Restaurant
This restaurant is cosy and stylish with
friendly staff and a South American-infused
menu. The name joyfully refers to the fact
that the building used to house a pharmacy
in days past, and the cocktail menu reflects
this, split up into painkillers, stimulants,
tranquilizers and placebos.

Places We Like
Kryddlegin Hjörtu
Kryddlegin Hjörtu is a cosy restaurant that
offers plenty of healthy options, including
a salad and soup buffet. Swing by if you’re
starting to feel guilty for all of those hot dogs
and want more wholesome and nutritious
food. Make sure not to miss out on their on-
location baked bread.

Bar Ananas
Bar Ananas, named after that topping that
only decent people enjoy on their pizza (pine-
apple), is Reykjavík’s only beach bar, and it
is truly a breath of fresh air for the otherwise
dreary downtown scene. No sir, this is no
dive bar, but a club, with an indoor smoking
lounge, stairs, a spacious bar, a tiny dance
floor, and a solid line of DJs that all aim to
make you bust a move.
Klapparstígur 38
8 Húrra
With numerous beers on tap, the place
is ideal to sit down for a pint in the early
evening, see a live band step on stage
around ten or eleven, and then dance to
sweet tunes by talented DJs until the wee
hours of the night.
Naustin
9Mikkeller & Friends
Mikkeller & Friends offers twenty different
craft beers on draft, and most of them are
from Denmark’s Mikkeller brewery. Even on
a quiet night, this comfortable place is full of
beer enthusiasts thirsty for something a little
different.

Bravó
Hraðlestin
Despite being the faster and more afford-
able cousin to one of the top restaurants in
the country, Austurindíafélagið, flavour is
never compromised by promptness. Their
short selection of authentic Indian cuisine is
cooked with the finest ingredients, the spices
are masterfully blended and the experience is
wholly satisfying.

The Coocoo's Nest
Nestled in a refurbished fishing hut in
the newly flourishing area of Grandi, The
Coocoo’s Nest is a cosy and airy cafe, offer-
ing California-casual brunch, lunch, and din-
ner, with an Italian twist. With large windows
and light wood throughout, this is perfect for
a lazy Saturday get-together or an afternoon
"aperitivo" after work. If you are in that part of
town, head over for a warm-up.

Snaps
This Reykjavík dining establishment has
quickly become a popular spot for folks with
a fine palate and a modest budget, offering
a small menu drawn from local produce and
a carefully selected wine list. It’s also a cool
hangout for artists and musicians, and we’ve
selected it as our “Best Goddamn Restaurant”
every year since 2012. Make sure to get there
early—they take reservations until 18:30, but
after that it's a free-for-all!

Þórsgata 1
Bravó is your regular run-of-the-mill bar
that serves decent drinks and doesn't try to
be anything that it's not. The bar plays good
music at a comfortable volume that allows
for conversation, and provides good seating
options even during late nights, when most
bars have removed their tables to make room
for a dance floor.
