On fol. 15V (ch. xix in the manuscript numbering, HkrFJ I: 124,
ch. 18, verses 52—54) the scribe has in four places cited variant readings
for the verses from 37, which he calls Msc. W. Beside the proper name
Rolff lamgom fpapa in Kringla he has cited a variant from 37 (fol. i6v,
ch. xxiv in Haraids saga harfagra, corresponding to HkrFJ 7: 132.11):
fa fur rothberstz lajrigufpeda. Just below he has inserted a chapter head-
ing from37 and the place-namepoptun as a variant to Kringla’s poptum.
At the top of the following page (fol. I7r) he has made a change that
should be understood as a correction of the text in Kringla according
to 37. The text has setia (HkrFJ I: 133.8), and in the margin we find:
corrigend.fpcia, which is the reading Peringskiold chose in the edition.
He has also made a correction to the manuscript at the beginning of
Hdlfdanar saga svarta in the lacuna in Kringla (HkrFJ 7: 86.14). Here
the correction is to the text of J, probably made by the scribe on the
basis of the context. In the text we find hafa (as in 37) and in the mar-
gin corrigenda membr. halfa (fol. I2r; Asgeir Jonsson omitted the word
in35)-
It was probably also the scribe himself who marked the omissions in
the exemplar by underlining. On fol. i3r, at the beginning of the lacuna
in Kringla (HkrFJ1:106.20), the word Sverd is underlined (the word is
missing in /, which is the exemplar at this point). There is a line in the
margin and a corresponding mark is also found in the margin beside
the line above, where the word hans is missing. We also see the scribe
marking omissions in J with a line in the margin on fol. 26r, where
a whole sentence is missing in 37 due to haplography (HkrFJ I: 128,
1.16—18). In addition he has made minor corrections in several places,
e. g. Rykill to tyckill (fol. i6r), fleyri to fleri" (fol. gv, HkrFJ I: 67.15),
and engan to engan (fol. lov).
In 18(1) there are catchwords in the main hånd. He has also written
the chapter headings in the margin. These must not be confused with
"37 has “fleiri”, but it can easily be read “flerri”. Peringskiold has “fleire”.
