FESTIVAL OF THE SEA
Based on the old Icelandic tradition of Seamen’s Day, the festival honors
both sailors and the sea, and their importance to the country’s history and
economy. The only day in which every ship sits in the harbour and every sailor
has the day off. Ships of all sizes bring sailors, who compete in strongman
