Travellers to Iceland often fit into two categories: tourists wanting a weekend pub-crawl through smoky bars where they can drink pint after pint of $9 beers. Or outdoor enthusiasts yearning for all that “untouched” nature the brochures keep going on about. Those jonzing for nature will mostly likely be looking to bathe in Iceland’s hot springs, as the Saga heroes did so many years ago, men like Grettir the Strong and our dear friend Snorri Sturluson, who was assassinated while bathing in his hot pot in Reykholt. For those not well versed in Saga literature, don’t worry. The hot pots also happen to be the perfect way to cleanse yourself of the toxins inhaled dur- ing a night out on the razzle.
