RESTAURANTS70 A T L A N T I C A Hafid Bláa There isn’t one spot in this restaurant that doesn’t have a world class view. Owner Hannes Sigurdsson claims the waves and the black beach above which this establishment are perched are as impressive as Gullfoss and Geysir. On weekends and on weekday nights when the weather is decent, scores of cars make the forty-five minute trek from Reykjavík. Barely labeled, and hard to find, (though anybody in the country can give direc- tions), the menu at Fjörubrodid hasn’t changed in seven years: lobster, lamb for those who don’t like lobster, and salads and soups. Given the restaurant’s incredible popularity, we can’t see it changing in the near future. Book in advance.
