Eye to Eye
At long last, Fótógrafí, a new gallery devoted to Icelandic photography, has opened. Owner Ari Sigvaldason, a
long-time broadcast reporter, decided to open the gallery out of a lifetime passion for what he loves most: pho-
tography. Located in a historic building on Skólavördustígur, one of Reykjavík’s best-known shopping streets,
Sigvaldason will be selling work by more than forty Icelandic photographers, including Morgunbladid staff
photographer Ragnar Axelsson, Iceland Review and Atlantica deputy editor and photographer Páll Stefánsson,
and veteran landscape photographer Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson. In addition to fine art prints, the gallery will also
sell photo books, posters, and smaller pictures worthy of a prominent place on your wall or coffee table.

Sea for Yourself
Two new places have opened near the old fishing harbor in down-
town Reykjavík, including Él, a new gallery run by photographer
Fridrik Örn, where you can check out the latest photography and
paintings by the up-and-coming generation of Icelandic artists.
Located in a renovated fish factory almost next door is Pikknikk, a
fun new space featuring great food, Icelandic design and more fine
photography for sale.
