Bobby became world champion in Reykjavík in 1972 when he beat the Soviet champion Boris Spassky in ‘The Game of the Century.’ In his later years he settled in Iceland and a few hundred meters away from the center you can visit his grave, located at the Laugardælir cemetery. The center is also a community center for local chess clubs. VESTMANNAEYJAR MUSEUMS ELDHEIMAR, SÆHEIMAR, SAGNHEIMAR For information regarding location, phone numbers and opening hours, please see the websites below: sagnheimar.is/en eldheimar.is/en/ saeheimar.is/en Three Vestmannaeyjar Museums await you on Heimaey island: The Volcano Museum of Remembrance, Eldheimar, includes an interactive exhibition of the volcanic eruption of 1973, when the whole island had to be evacuated. The Aquarium, Sæheimar, includes aquariums, a bird exhibit and a mineral collection. Observe ocean life up close, as well as mounted birds and amazing minerals. The Vestmannaeyjar Folk Museum, Sagnheimar, gives you a glimpse of the islanders’ colorful history, with an emphasis on fish, festivals, and explosive parts of our past—including a pirate raid and the volcanic eruption. • DUUS MUSEUM – CULTURE HOUSE Location: Duusgata 2-8, 230 Reykjanesbær Tel: +354 420-3245 Website: duusmuseum.is Opening hours: Every day: 12:00-17:00 Housing the Reykjanes Art Museum, Maritime Center, Heritage Museum, Movie Hall and the Harbor House, Duushús is a museum experience catering to the whole family.
