Albert and Joseph of Winnipeg. Two
sons, Herbert and Halldor, are deceas-
ed. All their children were home for
the anniversary. There are 10 grand-
children and 12 great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Jon S. Gillies, 971
Dominion St., Winnipeg, were honor-
ed on Oct 24th by their children and
friends on the occasion of their 55 th
wedding anniversary. Both were born
in Iceland and came to Canada while
young. Mr. Gillies was a Winnipeg
grocer for more than 40 years. Over the
years they have taken an active part
in Icelandic affairs in the city includ-
ing the Icelandic National League,
First Icelandic Lutheran Church and
the former Hekla lodge. Mrs. Gillies
was on the editorial board of the pub-
lication Ardis and active in Jon Sig-
urdson Chapter I.O.D.E. They have
four children, Franklin, a mechanical
engineer at London, Ont., Norman, a
