climbers reached the summit for the very
first time in 1956, there was no treasure to
be found there! We must not conclude,
however, that the legend of a treasure was
entirely mistaken. The real treasure of this
place iay not at the mountain peak but
rather at its base. This treasure was quietly
born, two centuries ago this November, at
a humble turf parsonage in the valley
below.
