Rogers H.S. chorus to visit,
for week-long goodwill tour
The 38-member chorus of Rogers High School, Newport, R.I., will
arrive at Keflavik, Thursday, April 8, for a week of goodwill activ-
ities on base and in Icelandic communities.
What sets this chorus apart from other entertainment units arriv-
ing here is that all members of
the group and their escorts per-
sonally sought the visit and are
paying their own way. Their vi-
sit to Iceland marks the first
time the chorus has performed
outside of Rhode Island.
The idea for the tour came
from a chorus member whose father,
a Navy chaplain, had been sta-
tioned here. Following approval
for the visit, chorus members be-
gan a drive to raise $8,500 for
the tour.
The goal was reached through
such fund raising events as a
stationery sale, Christmas con-
certs, candy sales, variety shows,
auctions and donations from con-
certs performed in the chorus' be-

Reykjavik KR team to
meet base team Saturday
The NATO Base All-Stars, se-
lected from winter league baske
ball teams, will pit themselvi
against the KR Club of Reykjavik1
on Saturday, April 3 at 2 p.m.
The game will take place in the
House Gymnasium and is considered
the final stepping stone to the
annual Ambassador's Cup tourna-
ment series, in which the All-
Star team will attempt to capture
the coveted cup.
The Ambassador's Cup series is
tentatively scheduled to begin
this Sunday. Details of the ser-

Linda Scheidt, new CPO Wives Club president, pre-
sents a gift to outgoing president Judy Metzger.
Other outgoing officers include Diane Allen, Peggy
Hough, Velma Mills and Jane DiGuiro.
