haunting and lyrical portrait of Britain’s
industrial past by American artist film
maker Bill Morrison. Using rarely seen
archive film footage spanning 100 years,
The Miners’ Hymns depicts the ill-fated
coal mining communities of North East
England, the harsh reality of miners’
lives and the extraordinary, celebratory
annual Durham Miners’ Gala. Guðni
Franzson conducts the Iceland Symphony
Orchestra in the Eldborg performance
space in Harpa.
