Film Festival
A Film Festival For
Filmmakers
Beginning in 2001, the Shorts&Docs Festival has
set out to be a springboard for Icelandic film-
making by expanding access to great docu-
mentaries and giving short films a platform to a
public audience. The headlining film ‘Citizenfour’
follows a documentarian and a reporter to Hong
Kong for meetings with Edward Snowden. Laura
Poitras, the Oscar-winning director and Pulitzer
Prize-winning journalist, will give a Q&A after the
screening. AM

Bíó Paradís (E5) | Citizenfour | Apr 11 20:00
The Spacesuits is an interesting crossover project
led by artists Anaïs Duplan and Winston Scarlett.
The two gave tailored prompts to forward-looking
musicians in various genres and from various
countries on futuristic/utopian themes. Multi-
functional arts space Mengi is the perfect place
to see a presentation of the ongoing project,
which will take the form of a two-day installation
with live performances from musicians such
as Futuregrapher, Good Moon Deer and Lord
Pusswhip. More info: www.thespacesuits.com. JR
What does masculine movement look like? Katrín
Gunnarsdóttir’s new work ‘Macho Man’ takes
an acute look into the choreography of Mexican
wrestling, WWE and fitness competitions with an
emphasis on rituals and voyeurism. Most people
can recognise a man or a woman’s gait from a
distance, but how far does gender-differentiated
movement extend? The solo piece is performed
by Saga Sigurðardóttir, whose work ‘CLOAK’ was
performed by the Icelandic Dance Company as
part of February’s Reykjavík Dance Festival. As a
bonus, Katrín’s 2014 work ‘Saving History’ will also
be performed. AM
