Completed Buildings 1943 ~ 3-955
In the attached publication of this Bank there is a survey
of completed buildings in Iceland 1945 t0 1955*
The headings of the tables and diagrams of the survey have
been translated into English.
The buildings are classified into three main classes:
1. Dwellings
2. Industrial buildings
3. Public buildings
1. Dwellings:
Included are all buildings, mainly intended for dwelling,
even if some space is intended for other purposes.
2. Industrial Buildings:
The figures cover all factories and workshops, amusement and
eating palces, stores and office buildings and other commercial
buildings. Included in table 4 f,Other Industrial Buildings” are
warehouses, garages and other such buildings that cannot be classi-
fied under the other headings.
3. Public Buildings:
The figures cover only certain types of buildings, as defined
below, other buildings constructed by central or local government
beeing classified by intended use.
Public buildings are classified as follows:
1. Schools and Colleges:
a. Schools and colleges of all kinds including kindergartens.
b. Athletic halls etc.
c. Scientific institutions, libraries and museums.
