Jón Karl Ólafsson, CEO Icelandair and Hafþór Yngvason, director of the
Reykjavík Art Museum, have signed a cooperative agreement for 2006. The
signing of the agreement took place in front of the Hafnarhús in Reykjavík,
which houses part of the Reykjavík Art Museum.
The cooperation between Icelandair and the Reykjavík Art Museum
began in 2005 and this signing marks a renewal in part of that cooperation
in 2006. Icelandair will support the Reykjavík Art Museum in its efforts to
draw foreign journalists to Iceland, as well as provide support for the travel
of Icelandic artists and exhibition managers and other museum activities.
In 2006 Icelandair will also sponsor the exhibition Uncertain States of
America, which will open in Hafnarhús later this year. The exhibition repre-
sents a selection of works by over 40 young American artists, selected by
world-renowned curators Daniel Birnbaum and Hans Ulrich Obrist from a
group of over 1,000 artists from the United States.

Flís
Flís, the band, was founded in 1998 when Davíd, Valdi and Helgi met at
the FIH School of Music in Reykjavík. In the beginning, traditional jazz was
their main concern. As the band matured, it took on all the influences the
individual band members had absorbed before their jazz interest. So today
the sound of the band has been boiled down into a meaty soup of musical
influences that keeps getting bigger and tastier.
Back in 2005 the band released its first album, “Vottur,” on the 12 Tónar
label. The band members then decided to found a record label called Le
Series. The main focus of Le Series is fresh Icelandic music. Le Series has
released two live albums: Live at Kaffi Hljómalind (le series001) and Flís &
Liudas live at Reykjavik Jazzfestival, with Liudas Mockunas (le series002).
Davíd, Valdi and Helgi are considered to be among some of the most
inventive jazz musicians and performers to ever come out of Reykjavík’s
music scene. Individually they have collaborated with a whole spectrum of
artists, from obscure troubadours in the countryside to stadium bands. Their
main goal in music is to never lose their childlike enthusiasm and to bring
about peace on Earth.
In June 2006 they released an album with legendary singer Bogomil Font,
where they take on old calypso music standards.

ease of use.
• Better navigation so the walk through is more logical.
• Content and pictures have been updated and there is a vast
amount of information about all our destinations, e.g. iPod
city guides and mobile downloads.
• Quite a few new services, e.g. e-ticket retrieval, interactive
route network, timetables, etc.
• The booking engine has been updated with new features for
advanced flight bookings.
We certainly hope you’ll give the new Icelandair websites a
