105 CHILDREN Lazy Town-Secret Agent Zero (For further information, see July column) MOVIE Mission: Impossible 3 Tom Cruise returns to one of his signature roles, Secret Agent Ethan Hunt, in Mission: Impossible III. In this pulse-racing, mind-bending action thriller, Hunt confronts the toughest vil- lain he’s ever faced – Owen Davian, played by Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, an international weapons and information pro- vider with no remorse and no conscience. The film is co-written and directed by J.J. Abrams, who brings his unique blend of action, character, comedy and drama to the franchise. Stephanie and the kids figure out that he has cheated, and Mayor Meanswell becomes a secret agent. With the help of Sportacus, he finds out how Robbie cheated and regains the office of Mayor. MOVIE The Shaggy Dog: Tim Allen transforms from a family dad to fam- ily dog and back again in this fresh update of the Disney comedy classic, The Shaggy Dog. It all begins when workaholic Deputy D.A. Dave Douglas (Allen) takes on a case involving an animal laboratory – one that will take him away yet again from his wife and kids, who already yearn for his all-too-distracted attention. When Dave is accidentally infected with a top-secret, genetic-mutation serum, everything he thought he knew about being himself and his family changes. The Shaggy Dog is a fun-filled comedy for the whole family. ENTERTAINMENT Behind the Scenes/Cars In this episode we take a look at Steve Martin step- ping into the role made famous by Peter Sellers in the modern adaptation of The Pink Panther. Martin is currently working on the big screen version of his successful stage play, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, which imagines a meeting between a young Pablo Picasso and a young Albert Einstein at a Paris Café at the turn of the 20th century. MOVIE Cheaper by the Dozen A successful small-town football coach and his wife lead a surprisingly idyllic – if necessarily regi- mented – life with their family of twelve children. When dad gets an offer he can’t refuse to coach a Big Ten football team, the move to the city, his increasing workload, and his wife’s booktour, turn the clan upside down. With a crowd-pleasing supporting cast, includ- ing rising young stars Hilary Duff, Tom Welling and Piper Perabo, this heartwarming hit comedy delivers super-sized fun and laughs by the dozen. MUSIC Smooth Jazz A calming mix of instrumental and vocal ballads. The show is a combination of live interviews, biographies, concert footage and video. VISUAL ART Fog 2002 Live painting by Gudrun Kristjansdottir Music by Dagur Kari www.gudrun.is “Painting with oil colours on linen, using traditional techniques and transparent colours in many lay- ers, has been the main method in my work for years. I continue to apply traditional methods as well as searching for new ways in my art. This has led me to work with video; to “paint” with the camera, catching the light, the transparency and changes in nature, more directly”.
