Reykjavik and Thorlákshöfn is scheduled to
coincide with departure and arrival times;
buses leave Reykjavik’s BSÍ coach station 1.5
hours before the ferry leaves Thorlákshöfn.

At Herjólfur's regular sailing speed the joumey
from the mainland to the Westman Islands
only takes 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Many people choose to take their car along for
the incomparable convenience it offers; road
distances on Heimaey are longer than they
may appear on the map. Cars should arrive for
boarding 45 minutes before scheduled depar-
ture time.
