However, in two instances Stockholm Perg. fol. no. 2 appears to render
the Latin more accurately than AM 238 fol. X:
1) Lat. (BHL 3641): Stock. Perg. 2: ... dum sacratissimo Sabbato (I, i,7) ba var komit at paskum, Jjvattdag fyrir paska (3816'7)
AM 238 fol. X: ... f>anrc dag (2vbl4)
2) Lat. (BHL 3641): ... vt saltem die illo ad ieiunandum sibi virtus
Stock. Perg. 2: daretur (I, i, 8) ... at honum gæfizt megn til fostu f>ann dag (3811213)
AM 238 fol. X: ... at gv6 gæfi honum matf t il Joes s at fasta f>an n dag (2vbl8)
As noted by Foote, the text of the fragment is much shorter than that
in the corresponding section of Stockholm Perg. fol. no. 2. However,
the Gregorius saga in AM 238 fol. X is, on the whole, a close rendering
of BHL 3641, and in comparison with this source it is not abridged.
An examination of all the additional material in Stockholm Perg. fol.
no. 2 (i.e. of the material not found in AM 238 fol. X) reveals that this
material is drawn from BHL 3640, as evident from the following
examples:
1) Lat. (BHL 3640): ... quodque iam in diuinis eratobtutibus, humanis etiam visibus ostendit (1,3)
Stock. Perg. 2: ... let hann bratt hat bert verda fyrir monnum, hvilikr hann hafdi leingi verit i gud(s) augliti (38016-17)
AM 238 fol. X: -
2) Lat.
