36. (91) Bortført nonne vender tilbage. Legenden findes også i L,
trykt i Ms s. 579 med varianter fra E, og hvor L slipper, er slutningen ta-
get fra E (fra s. 583l8ff.). Som Marialegende er beretningen sekundær,
det ligger i selve fortællingen om nonnen, der forlader klostret. Det er
den korsfæstede, der fratager hende sløret og atter tilbagegiver hende
det, da hun vender tilbage.
37. (92) Boy Devoted to the Devil findes også i E (s. 566-571 i Ms)
samt i AM 240 VII fol., Ki (D nr. 71), der er en omtrent ordret gengi-
velse af SpecH VII k. 115. Epilogen i D mangler hos Vincent, men den
findes i den gruppe, som Mussafia har aftrykt 1896 s. 17-19 (SV nr. 34,
SG nr. 62 osv.). Hvordan det forholder sig med BM Add. 15.723 (Ward
1893 s. 632 nr. 29), ved jeg ikke.
Der må henvises til oversigten over E, hvor legender, der er fælles for
E og S, er optaget (s. 28-30).
S2-samlingen
Samlingen S2 er indført i samme manuskript som S omkring et hundre-
de år efter, at S blev skrevet. S2 er en oversættelse af 27 mirakler, og der
er ikke anden sammenhæng mellem S og S2 end, at de havnede i samme
manuskript. Her var der ikke - som i E2 i forhold til E - nogen tænksom
skriver, der kunne redigere de to samlinger sammen.
Det kan bero på, at der er en himmelvid forskel på de to samlinger i
S-håndskriftet. I S har der været brugt en bred pensel, i S2 har penslen
været meget tynd og spinkel. I S udmærker miraklerne sig både i for-
hold til S2 og B ved deres længde og en historisk farvning. I S2 er mi-
raklerne fortalt meget kort, der får man et klart indtryk af, hvordan mi-
rakler blev fortalt i de ældste trykte bøger (inkunabler).
Unger har i sin fortale til Ms (s. XX) givet en oversigt over indholdet
i S2 og opregner 26 numre og sidetal for dem, men har overset historien
om Hildefonsus (trykt s. 707-708). Unger giver også den oplysning, at
kun to numre i S2 har temaer, som ellers ikke findes i norrøne legender.
Det er legenderne s. 1058-1059 Kone gemte hostien og gav den til jøder
og s. 1060 Munk lærte bønnen O intemerata, som kan sammenstilles
med SG2 nr. 105 (i den del af manuskriptet, som jeg har kaldt SG3 (1967
