LEIFUR THORSTEINSSON – PEOPLE AND CITY
This fascinating exhibition includes photos taken over a 40-year period,
from 1963 up to today, and the main photographic topic is people and the
city, two inseparable factors reflected in each other. These photographs
show us the changes Reykjavík has undergone throughout the decades.

WINTER LIGHTS FESTIVAL
The Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival is an annual happening intended to stim-
ulate and enliven city life in midwinter. The Festival celebrates both winter and
the growing amount of light after a long period of darkness. Its programme is a
mixture of art and industry, environment and history, sports and culture, and
the events provide entertainment for both inhabitants and guests of Reykjavík.
The Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival is an event to be enjoyed by all. It reflects
the many faces of Reykjavík and its inhabitants. All the major institutions of cul-
ture and education participate in the Festival, and sports clubs, galleries,
artists, shops, restaurants and many more also join in the fun. All of the city is
alive during the Festival, both the centre with all of its cultural institutions, as
well as the many parks and sport centres in Reykjavík’s suburbia.
