ICELAND, SWEET ICELAND
Want to bring back a tasty souvenir from Iceland? Try out a bag of Sweet
Iceland, which offers a selection of Icelandic candy from Freyja. Icelandic
sweets are delicious and somewhat different to those of other countries. The
confectioners at Freyja have, since 1918, produced quality candy that has
retained its popularity throughout the decades. Long ago, Freyja candy
became a traditional part of Icelandic society, especially their Valencia
chocolate, Hrískúlur (chocolate-covered, puffed rice balls) and
Freyjukaramellur (toffee squares). Icelanders are also well acquainted with
more recent products such as Freyjudraumur (chocolate-covered liquorice),
Villiköttur (chocolate toffee bar), Rís (chocolate-covered puffed rice) and
marsípanbraud (chocolate-covered marzipan). The Sweet Iceland bags
weigh half a kilo each and contain different assortments of sweets. They are
pretty, with a practical handle, and are available in all of the duty-free stores
at Keflavík International Airport.
