Shadow Mountain
by Bragi Magnússon
Where the great Rockies touch the
clouds
And gliding Ospreys fish and play
Serene lies Shadow Mountain Lake
At the dawn of a summer day
Embraced by mountains all around
With sheer peaks and spanning ridges
Like an aged God made fortress
Complete with towers and bridges
From the east in a bright red sky
Sunrays beam like silvery strings
Driving shadows from hills and dale
Flashing an Osprey on the wings
Blackish above and white below
An exquisite sight flying high
This eagle with six foot wings is
Master of the Shadow Lake sky
He dives to snatch a rainbow trout
From the water’s glittering crest
And hastens to the mountain side
To feed his young ones in a nest
To the banks of Shadow Mountain
Looming dark on the westem shore
Much like an ancient castle
Squarely apart for ever-more
There he sits like God’s own sentry
At the top of the tallest tree
Taking a panoramic view
Of living things, windward and lee
Ducks are scampering to and fro
While flocks of geese take off, and land
Sending ringlets to either shore
Rippling gently over the sand
As the sun moves west, and lower
A huge shadow begins to fall
Slowly across darkened waters
From the mountain’s blackening wall
The sun sets on this Shangri La
A half moon grins through fleecy
shrouds
Adding another dimension to
The Shadow Mountain by the clouds
Poem For Marjorie
by Cecil Swanson
I
Where do the rainbows go
When the rainbows go away?
Where has my lover gone?
Has she gone away to stay?
Where will I find my love?
In a heaven where flowers grow?
Where will it be?
Across the sea?
Or where the rainbows go?
II
Though I may shed a tear,
There’s a rainbow in the sky.
It hasn’t been so long
Since we had to say goodbye.
I know we’ll meet again
And we’ll love with our hearts aglow
And then someday
We’ll find our way
To where the rainbows go.

A Gentle Cry
by Albert L. Halldorsson
In outer space, from realms afar,
The wise men saw a silver star;
That shone so brightly on the earth!
It hailed a king whose blessed birth
Has changed the world from manger
mild —
The gentle crying of a child!
