WARM-UP PAR-TAY
Three days of music/booze-&-goodvibes-better-
music-fuelled dancing not even close to enough
for ya? Head over to Hlemmur Square, and kick
off 2015's iteration of the Innipúkinn Festival a full
night early. This warm-up party features Sturla
Atlas in all his glory. But don't think you have to
take it easy just because it's a “warm-up”—go
hard, stay up, keep it going all weekend long—to
Merchants’ Weekend, and beyond. SLWF

Join the marchers of the fifth annual SlutWalk
on July 25 as they walk in solidarity with victims
of sexual violence and assault. Come and aid
in drawing much needed attention to social,
cultural, and legal issues surrounding rape and
rape culture. Be part of the discussion. Spread
the word to help make this the largest and most
successful walk in Iceland's history. Participants
will meet at Hallgrímskírkja at 14:00, and walk to
Austurvöllur, in front of Parliament. SLWF

Two Weeks
The Grapevine picks the events, places and what to experience in the next two weeks
Fred Frith
Fred is one of the founders of avant-rock group
Henry Cow and has played in all sorts of projects
for the past 47 years. The music he's written has
also been performed by numerous outfits, including
the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. The
multi-instrumentalist has been coming to Iceland
since 1986, and in this visit he will stop by in Mengi
for two nights, where he will perform. Admission:
2,000 ISK.

Open mic stand up comedy in English
Every Monday, The Goldengang, a group of
comedians get together and perform a free comedy
set in English for expats and locals alike. Bear in
mind there may be some teething issues, but at
least everyone will understand the jokes. We think.
Admission is always free.

Hotels no more
Word is that the owners of Naustin and
Tryggvagata 22 are planning to turn the place into
a tourist shop haven, which spells bad news for
numerous bars located in that hotspot, including
Gaukurinn. To protest these proposed changes,
several bands—including Alchemia, Lucy in Blue,
and Kuml—are joining joining forces and putting
on a show of solidarity.

Grísalappalísa
Explosive rock-punk-lovesick supergroup
Grísalappalísa is playing a show at Húrra. Expect
a dynamic performance, with lots of antics. Don't
stand too close if you want to avoid getting tangled
up when singer Gunnar runs through the crowd
with microphone in tow. Don't be too surprised if
they play a few new jangles, and blow your mind
away. If you want a more relaxed show, catch them
on the 29th, when they'll play a DJ set.

Boston House Special
The star-studded Boston is putting on a special
house-themed night for all the dancers out
there that want to get down. Tandri Lágtíðni,
CasaNova and Viktor Birgiss will all spin the
discs. Expect magic.
