The distance of flow of Skálm from the glacier to the bridge where samples were taken is approx. 16.5 kilometers but the distance to the bridge over Fúlilcekur is 5.5 kilometers. The water in Skálm is there- fore likely to have a better chance to approach solutions equilibrium with suspended matter, resulting in increased total dissolved load with 14 JÖKULL 1963
