This in- crease is probably greater than can be accounted for by decrease in water discharge. Variations in pH and bicaibonate in Fúlilœkur is much more pronounced than in the other rivers. Tlie lower pH during the winter months, due to higher dissociation of carbonic acid at low temperature is probablv effectice in producing the higher total dissolved load, but here a source of COo must be assumed, which is either not present in the other rivers or masked by airation and precipitation of calciumcarbonate.
