The General’s Polar Bear with apolgies, very humble ones, to A. A. Milne The General told The Major and The major told The R. S. M. “I do want a little polar bear to lead around”. The R. S. M. said, “Very good, Sir”, And went and told The Orderly Corp., “Buzz off and find a polar bear, If there’s any to be found”. The Corp. said, “Excuse me, Sir, For taking of the liberty, But do you think His Nibs would like A penguin instead?” The R. S. M. considered it, And went and asked the Major; The General blew his top off and Retired to his bed. The Major said, “There, there, He didn’t really mean it!” The R. S. M. said, “Not arf! I’ll put him on a charge!” He went and found the Orderly Corp. And said, “You get that polar bear, And get it — quick, and mind It ain’t too — large!” The Corporal went to B. O. D. And said, “The General’s raging. He wants a polar bear, to lead Around on a string”. DADOS said, “Certainly! Bears, polar, Mark VI, Officers, for use of, We’ve got the very thing”. The Corporal, rejoicing, CHRISTMAS IN ICELAND Took it to the R. S. M. The R. S. M. signed for it And took it to the Mess. The Major shouted “Whoopee!” And took it to the General. The General took one look at it, And shouted, “Vertu bless!” The General put his tunic on, And slid down the banisters. The General said, “Look, boys, This little fellow’s mine! Ain’t he the cutest thing? Ain’t he the sweetest thing? Algernon is going to be The Alabaster sign!”
