In the ON, the feasts of St. Magnus of Orkney, both his Natale, 16 April, and his
Translatio, 13 December, are marginal additions to the main text (see ON, pp. 75-79,
300n, 3 31 n). The texts for both feasts are taken from the Common of a martyr. Both
feasts are, however, provided with sequences: Mundi etate (AH 8, no. 113) for the
April feast, and Iocundemur, which remains unidentified, for the December feast.
Missale Nidrosiense 1519 has the same mass for both feasts (pp. 393, 413-14), with
the collect ‘Adesto domine supplicationibus nostris; et intercedente beato magno martyre
tuo ab hostium nos defende propiciatus ineursu’, taken from the collect of the Orkney
Saint’s namesake, Magnus Tranensis (GeV 1000), and with the secret and posteom-
