In the fifteenth century texts with musical notation were added in the
upper margins of ff. 20r-21r. They are the vespers antiphons and
psalms, from the second antiphon of Sunday to the second antiphon of
Monday. On the musical notation, see Ottosson, p. 34.

a) Copenhagen MS AM Access. 7d. Psalter II. Seven leaves of
vellum, of which the last five are consecutive.
b) Reykjavik Lbs. fragm. 60 (see J. Benediktsson, p. 14). A
bifolium of non-consecutive leaves. Removed from the binding of the
visitation book of Sigurbur Jonsson (1643-1730), dean of the Isafjarb-
arsysla, diocese of Skålholt (see LÆ 4, pp. 234-5).
The calendar MS AM 249e fol. (see Kålund, AM 1, pp. 227-8),
originally prefixed to the psalter B, has attached to it a note by Åmi
Magnusson: ‘Fra Eyri i Skutilsfirde. Framan vid 'Paltara slitur’. F. Ir,
originally left blank, contains a note in Icelandic relating to a porcio of
the church of Eyri (DI 3, p. 652). Ff. lv-7v contain the calendar (see
below, pp. 121 sqq.), and f. 7v carries a drawingof the Crucifixion (re-
produced by H. Hermannsson, Plate 14, wrongly called c in the
caption). See Plate 90.
The oldest church charter of Eyri (Is.) is that of Bishop Åmi I of
Skålholt c. 1286 (DI 2, p. 260); the second one is the ‘vigslumåldagi’
of 1333, when the church was dedicated to St. Mary and St. John the
Apostle by Bishop Jon I Halldorsson (DI 2, p. 699). However, the only
charter of this church where books have been specified is that of
Bishop Vilchin’s register c. 1397. Twelve books are listed, headed by a
gradual; next in order are two psalters (DI 4, p. 140), one of which is
probably to be equated with our psalter B. In 1570 the church was still
in possession of her books: ‘Jtem .xiiij. bækur oriffnar og sterkar’ (DI
15, p. 570).
