To ‘nonnulla’ he added the following note: perpauca tamen. et ex iis illa
annotavi.
In faet, most of the calendars MSS AM 249a-q fol. (see Kålund, AM 1,
pp. 226-32) were formerly prefixed to psalters, as appears from Ami’s notes
attached to them, and some of them contain a great many anniversaries as well
as annalistic and genealogical notes.
As mentioned above, the calendar MS AM 249p fol. has been
identified as belonging to our MS A by Professor Louis-Jensen, who
also identified the calendar MS AM 249e fol. as belonging together
with our MS B. Besides, the calendar MS AM 249d fol. undoubtedly
belonged with our MS C, and the calendar MS AM 249f fol. with our
MS F. A fifth calendar, MS AM 249m fol., may possibly have
belonged with MS s, and a sixth one, MS AM 249q fol. I, a fragment
containing only the month of January, with MS t. For a table bearing
upon the respective dates of these calendars, see below, pp. 121 sqq.
Two Norwegian fragments of this fifteen-divisioned psalter have
been fo und in Riksarkivet, Oslo, MSS Na and Nb, and a Swedish one
in Kammararkivet, Stockholm, MS Sa. The Norwegian and the
Swedish fragments come from manuscripts confiscated after the
Reformation and subsequently used for binding material in the royal
chanceries.
Thus, this psalter was used not only in the Icelandic dioceses, but
probably in the Province of Nidaros as a whole, and also in the Swe-
dish Province of Uppsala. It may have been known in Denmark, too,
though no Danish fragment has yet been traced. However, but for the
rich Icelandic manuscript tradition, the Norwegian and Swedish mem-
bers of the family could not have been identified. The Icelanders, too,
had a name for it. In fourteenth- and fifteenth-century records from the
diocese of Holar it is referred to as the Pater Noster Psalter (see
below, pp. 159-61).
