MS AM 241a fol. (Psalterium)
Texts from Copenhagen MS AM 241a fol. (see Kålund, AM 1, pp.
210-11) have been edited by f>. Bjarnarson,1 by R. A. Ottosson, op.
cit., and by M. M. Lårusson,2 who all remark upon the disorder in
which the leaves of this manuscript have been bound. As will be seen
from the summary inventory of it, found in Ottosson, pp. 33-34, 241a
fol. consists of fragments of two manuscripts which have been bound
together. Attached to it is a note by Ami Magmisson: ‘Ex libro qui,
nisi fallor, olim pertinuit ad templum Cathedrale Scalholtinum’, sub-
sequently corrected by him to: ‘Liber hicce olim pertinuit’, etc.3
The more recent manuscript, twelve leaves of a fifteenth-century
antiphoner, pp. 35-58 in the actual pagination of 241a fol., have been
edited by Ottosson. For practical purposes this manuscript could be
designated as AM 241a fol. (Antiphonarium).
The older manuscript, that is, the remaining twenty-five leaves with
which we are concemed here, contain a Gallican psalter (the canticles
are lost), followed by a series of private prayers, in Icelandic and in
Latin (f. 25r2), the Office of the dead (f. 28v), and the Hours of the
Passion (f. 32r) generally attributed to St. Bonaventura. Of these four
items, only the Office of the dead is complete; the Hours of the
Passion are nearly complete. This manuscript could, in turn, for
practical purposes, be designated as MS AM 241a fol. (Psalterium).
In the present study we shall cite the psalter contained in it as MS A.

Ten more leaves of A have been identified in the collection of
fragments which have been removed from the bindings of Icelandic
