Making it Easier for the Fishing Industry
The company RT Ltd - Rafagnatækni has been specialising in consultation and design
of electronic equipment, control systems and communication networks, since 1961. RT
Ltd is therefore one of the oldest and most experienced companies in Iceland in this field
of work.
RT Ltd has always been in the forefront of technological development and innovation,
and has undertaken projects for a diverse range of companies. RT Ltd’s latest projects
include the design of most of the control and automation equipment for the new geo-
thermal power plant in Svartsengi (southwest Iceland) and the fibre-optic network
owned by Lina.Net. The company has also been an active force in shaping the technol-
ogy used in the Icelandic fishing industry. The Temperature Recorder, the Freshmeter
and the Stability Alarm, designed by RT Ltd, are amongst the technological innovations
that are now being used in the fishing industry.
The Stability Alarm is a warning system that increases the safety of fishermen on
board ships. The system shows the stability of the ship while at sea and warns if the sta-
bility level drops too low. To keep quality control at factories at a high standard, the
Freshmeter, designed by RT Ltd, measures the freshness of the fish being processed.
This allows companies to ensure that the quality of their products always meets the set
standards. The Temperature Recorder is specially made for freezers and cold stores. The
recorder monitors and stores information about the temperature and gives a warning sig-
nal if the temperature goes above or below the set temperature range.
The experienced staff at RT Ltd are constantly developing and improving technolog-
ical solutions, trying to make life a little easier for companies in the fishing industry and
other business sectors.
